Don’t get me wrong Chelsea are a fantastic side and they will probably be the favourites. Their record at Stamford Bridge speaks for itself and having missed out in 3 previous semi final Champions league appearances in the last 4 years they will be determined to get to the final this time around.

Tonight’s Champions League match is Chelsea Vs Liverpool in the 2nd leg of their semi final encounter and in the build up to the game it is really starting to heat up between the two clubs.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has criticised Chelsea striker Didier Drogba this week by accusing him of diving. We also understand that Rafa has been showing his team some video footage of Drogba’s on-field antics this week to try and stamp it out and as you can imagine Chelsea and Dider Drogba didn’t take too kindly to this form of criticism. Are these masterful mind games from Rafa Benitez? Is he trying to heap the pressure on Drogba and raise awareness on his falling over for the ref’s sake before the game? Or is he simply giving Chelsea and especially Mr Drogba that extra incentive to go out, do well and prove Benitez wrong? I guess we shall found out tonight but even without all this pre-match bitching this game has the foundations to be a cracker.

Liverpool play at their best when they know they have to go out and score goals which is exactly what they have to do tonight. However Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is an easy game for no team and it will be very tough for The Reds. A 0-0 draw will see Chelsea go through but I’d give you 1000-1 on that happening. Chelsea should be favourites to book a Champions League Final place against Manchester United but as we have seen so many times in this competition before, when it gets to this stage you can right off no-one, especially Liverpool who have proved time and again in the Champions League that they fear no-one and have what it takes to beat absolutely anyone.

Fabio Aurelio is Liverpool’s only injury problem and Liverpool’s own goal villain from the first leg, John Arne Riise could fill in for him.

The 2nd leg of the Champions League semi finals get underway tonight and the Tuesday fixture this week is Manchester United Vs Barcelona at Old Trafford. Barcelona and Manchester United drew 0-0 in the first leg last week at the Nou Camp in a game which disappointed after all the hype and expectations of it going to be a Champions League classic but in truth it was far from it. Manchester United were a shadow of their usual brilliance in the Nou Camp last week and the performance against Chelsea at the weekend was less than impressive so they will have to get it together and better themselves greatly tonight if they are to have any chance of reaching this years Champions League final in Moscow.

Barcelona themselves have fallen off the pace in recent times with a string of poor results and are now struggling for 2nd place in La Liga, sitting in third place 4 points behind Villarreal. Barcelona’s performance last week in the 1st leg against Manchester United wasn’t all that great either and they too lost at the weekend going down 2-0 to Deportivo so the form and momentum is just not with them at the moment. Manchester United will be the favourites to win the match tonight and progress to the Champions League final in Moscow but once you reach the semi finals stage of the Champions League you should right no one off as any of the teams left are capable of going all way, form or no form and you can bet your life that Barcelona will be giving it their all tonight at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic are big doubts for Sir Alex Ferguson but he is hopeful they will both be fit. Rafael Marquez is suspended for Barcelona after picking up the maximum for yellow cards however Carlos Puyol is back so he will go straight in there at the back. Midfielder Yaya Toure is a doubt with an ankle problem.

Arsenal travel to Pride Park tonight to take on a Derby side who are looking to prevent themselves from earning the tag of Worst Club in Premier League history. The Rams only have 3 games left to grab the 4 goals and 4 points they need to escape that label but Derby haven’t won a league match in the last 29 attempts and you wouldn’t bet on them ending that sequence tonight against Arsenal. Zenit St Petersburg will be travelling to the Allianz Arena tonight to take on German powerhouse’s Bayern Munich in the fist leg of their UEFA Cup semi final battle. Up until just a few weeks ago the Russian side had never beaten a German team in European competition and now they have the chance of going two in a row against German clubs. However, facing Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena is a very intimidating fixture but this is the semi finals of the competition and all four teams left will fear no-one and fancy their chances of lifting the trophy this year. Rangers will welcome Italian side Fiorentina to Ibrox tonight in the first leg of the UEFA Cup semi final clash between the pair. Although Walter Smith’s team will have the benefit of playing at home, Fiorentina will be the favourites amongst most as the Ibrox injury list continues to grow and with suspensions to take place, no fewer than 8 Rangers players are out of the UEFA Cup semi final clash.

Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson and midfield partner Kevin Thomson will both miss out due to suspension but Allan McGregor, Steven Naismith, DaMarcus Beasley, Charlie Adam, Lee McCulloch and Chris Burke are all out with injuries. Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry looks set to start alongside Lionel Messi and Deco tonight for Barcelona after recovering from an illness but Ronaldinho will be absent as will captain Carlos Puyol. Ronaldinho is out due to injury and Carlos Puyol is banned so Rafael Marquez will be most likely to replace him at the back.

Edwin Van Der Sar is available for Manchester United again in goal after recovering from a groin strain. Wayne Rooney has recovered from the hip problem he suffered at the weekend and both Owen Hargreaves and Anderson have recovered from minor injuries. Nemanja Vidic also looks set to play after not taking part in Man Utd’s training session at the Nou Camp as a precaution.

Liverpool and Chelsea go at it tonight at Anfield in the first leg of their semi final Champions League clash. This is the fourth successive season that Chelsea and Liverpool have met each other in the Champions League and amazingly the third time they will go head to head in the semi finals. Liverpool have been the victors in both previous semi final clashes with The Blues but this is the fourth time Chelsea have reached the semi finals in the last 5 years having never made it to the final so they will be determined to put an end to their semi final curse and finally reach the grandest stage of all in Moscow this year.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been passed fit for the game at Anfield tonight which is a massive boost for the Scousers.

Chelsea will also be getting a huge boost with Frank Lampard returning from compassionate leave due to his mother being ill with pneumonia but start striker Didier Drogba is a slight doubt with a knee injury.

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has been under pressure in recent weeks from Thai owner Thaksin Shinawatra so Sven will have to make sure his team put on a good show for the rest of the season, starting today against Portsmouth. Although they are at home Man City will be in for tough test today if recent form is anything to go by. Manchester City have won only 3 of their last 13 games and have not scored in 5 of the last 8. Pompey on the other hand have won 6 of their last 8 losing just once and have took 7 points from the last 3 games without conceding a goal. With Man City not being able to score and Portsmouth not able to concede it looks set to be a tight game.

Aston Villa put in a sensational performance today at Villa Park and completely outclassed their Birmingham rivals from start to finish. Winger Ashley Young was the pick of the bunch and put on a fantastic show in front of the watching England boss, Fabio Capello. Not only did he grab two goals for himself but had a hand in others as well. John Carew also grabbed two goals and Gabriel Agbonlahor grabbed the fifth, Mikael Forsell scored for Birmingham but it was merely a consolation.

Villa have now scored an amazing 15 goals in their last 3 games and have only conceded once in the process of doing so. The result today now leaves Birmingham in the bottom three and in real danger of going down. Read on for the highlights.

Local rivals Sunderland and Newcastle will go head to head this Super Sunday, a match which is always fierce and always delivers the entertainment that it promises. Stephen Carr and James Milner are doubtful for Newcastle but Kevin Keegan is expected to play the same 11 that started against Portsmouth last time out.

Celtic will be looking to keep the momentum going after defeating their fierce rivals Rangers during the week by beating Aberdeen at Celtic Park today. Aberdeen knocked Celtic out of the Scottish Cup when the two sides last met so Gordon Strachans side will be out for revenge. Can Celtic put more pressure on The Gers and close the gap at the top? Alex Ferguson will travel to Ewood Park today to take on one of his former stars’ and Blackburn who have not won in almost a month but they are unbeaten in their last 7 home games. A victory today for Man Utd will put them back to 5 points clear of Chelsea but Mark Hughes won’t be handing his old side any favours. If Alex Ferguson’s side defeat Blackburn today they can win the title next Saturday with a win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, something which although Fergie won’t admit he would love more than anything.

Jason Roberts looks like he has recovered from a groin injury and David Dunn is also pestering the manager for a starting place after putting in a number of good performances recently.

Nemanja Vidic will be back for the champions today after being out for 3 games, Nani is also fit again after a thigh problem and Owen Hargreaves and Anderson are expected to shake off minor injuries.

Arsenals Premier League title dreams were dashed at Old Trafford last Sunday and now they have to set their sights on jumping Chelsea and claiming 2nd place but even that is unlikely for The Gunners being 7 points behind with 4 to play. They will return home to The Emirates today to take on a Reading side who have not scored in 281 minutes of football, have lost 20 premier league matches this season and conceded 63 goals, only Derby have lost and conceded more.

Robin Van Persie will be starting up front beside Adebayor today and Theo Walcott will be starting on the right of midfield for Arsenal.

Fulham are currently 4 points adrift from safety in the Premier League and will find it hard to get out of that bottom 3. With only 4 games left having Liverpool as opponents is not what they need right now. Fulham claimed a vital away win at Reading last week but the last time Fulham put together 2 wins in a row was 68 games ago so if statistics are anything to go by Fulham are not going to come out of this one with a smile on their faces. Liverpool need only 5 points from their remaining games to guarantee fourth place and they will be looking at this game as a 3 pointer.

Antti Niemi looks set to return and replace Kasey Keller in goal after recovering from a shoulder injury and Eddie Johnson is available again after recovering from an illness.

Rafa Benitez is likely to leave out Steven Gerrard today as he has a slight neck problem but the midweek Champions League semi final against Chelsea is also in mind. Fernando Torres may also be rested but Jermaine Pennant is fit again and Javier Mascherano returns after suspension.
