Aston Villa vs Wigan : Preview

Aston Villa and Wigan have both lost key players over the summer. Aston Villa have lost former captain Gareth Barry and Martin Laursen while Wigan have lost Luis Antonio Valencia and Lee Cattermole.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has managed to replace his departed pair however the same can’t exactly be said for Villa and Martin O’Neill although the Villa boss has managed to secure Habib Beye from Newcastle.

Wigan have never lost to Aston Villa at Villa park in the league but they have also never won their opening match in the Premier League. What does that mean? Well, if you are a stats man then that tells you that Villa will win it. On the other hand, all records are there to be broken and this could be the day.

Personally i reckon Villa have much more quality and will dominate, but, the majority of my predictions last season were dreadful so don’t take my word for it!
