Austria Vs Croatia Highlights: Euro 2008 Highlights

Croatia came out on top in their opening Euro 2008 match against Austria today but the Austrians will have every right to be proud of the teams performance today. Croatia started the match really well and were up after just 4 minutes thanks to a penalty from Luka Modric. Modric played striker Ivica Olic into the box before the Croatia striker was bundled down by Austria defender Rene Aufhauser. Luka Modric stepped up to the penalty spot and calmly slotted his penalty right down the middle. The first half an hour was all Croatia but they never managed to add to their tally despite dominating most of the first half. The old cliche of ” A game of two halves” is a fitting way to describe this match. Austria piled constant pressure on the Croats in the 2 half but they never managed to find the back of the net. Austria will be disapointed in the end to not have at least secured a draw but they can take heart from their spirit and determination.
