Bolton and Sunderland are two sides who are used to living in the bottom half of the league table and many are predicting the same again this year.

That being said, Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has strengthened his side quite considerably during the summer and if any of these two are going to improve on their table position this year it is Sunderland.

New Bolton signings include Zat Knight, Paul Robinson, Sam Ricketts and Sean Davis.

New Sunderland signings include Lee Cattermole, Lorik Cana, Fraizer Campbell and Darrent Bent.

It isn’t hard to spot the difference in the managers transfer dealings this year. Gary Megson clearly looking to make his Bolton team as dogged as ever and a right pain in the… backside as usual.

Sunderland on the other hand had a need to score more goals after a shortage last season and with Fraizer Campbell, Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones up front they will be expecting more this time around.
