Celtic vs Arsenal – Preview

The Champions League is designed to give us mouth watering fixtures with the most amount of entertainment and excitement as possible and this is certainly one of those fixtures. It will be a battle of Britain between Celtic and Arsenal from Celtic Park with a place in the Champions League group stages at stake.

Celtic and Arsenal both got their league campaigns off to fantastic starts at the weekend and will want to continue that form into this match. You would have to fancy Arsenal as favourites over Celtic to win the tie overall but Celtic have showed over the years in the Champions League that at home they can beat any team in the world.

Arsenal look likely to bring Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott at least back into the squad after the pair recovered from injury but after the 6-1 cuffing of Everton at the weekend the Arsenal manager might not want to change his starting line up.

Celtic centre half Glen Loovens is a doubt for the visit of Arsenal. The Dutchman picked up a knock against Dinamo Moscow in the previous round of Champions League qualifying and although he played 45 minutes against Aberdeen at the weekend he might miss out.

Shaun Maloney looked to be in trouble after the match with Aberdeen on Saturday but he has been declared fit and should start. Gary Caldwell will also return for Celtic after serving a suspension.
