Chelsea vs Wolves : Preview.

League leaders Chelsea will expect to continue their good form with a win against Wolves at Stamford Bridge this weekend. After beating Man Utd last time out Chelsea will be high on confidence and Wolves may have to put up a road block in order to prevent Chelsea from turning them over.

When Wolves were last in the Premier League back in the 03/04 season Chelsea knocked ten goals past them during their two league encounters, scoring five in each game. That may have been five years ago but looking at the way both teams have been performing recently you wouldn’t want to bet against a similar goal ratio occurring this weekend at Stamford Bridge.

Before this season started when i had a look at the promoted teams and questioned how they would fair, i fancied that Wolves would have a decent chance of staying up as i regarded them as a side who were capable of scoring goals. Sadly i have been proved wrong so far this season as Wolves have struggled for firepower and managed only twelve goals in twelve games. When your centre back (Joey Craddock) is your joint top goal scorer you know you have problems. For this reason i can hardly seeing them even scoring against this solid Chelsea side never mind actually getting a result from the game.

Wolves will welcome the return of Kevin Foley after injury especially as Michael Mancienne cannot feature due to the conditions of his loan from Chelsea and that Ronald Zubar is a concern with injury.

Injury news for Chelsea merely teases Wolves with the news that Frank Lampard is almost certain to miss out with a thigh strain although Frank’s absence is eased with the return of John Terry and Ashley Cole from injury as well as Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack who are also expected to be fit enough to start. Ouch.
