Curbishley Leaves West Ham United

Curbishley Leaves West Ham UnitedAlan Curbishley has resigned as West Ham manager after less than 2 years in charge at the club.

Curbishley put forward his resignation today to West Ham owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson and it has been accepted. The reasons behind Curbishleys resignation are understood to be down to transfers, both the lack of funds available and the departures of defenders Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney to Sunderland.

Upon his arrival at West Ham in December 2006, Curbishley was guaranteed he will have funds to build a squad that would qualify for the Champions League within 5 years! How naive that sounds now (if it didn’t already at the time). There are more players going out of West Ham than there are coming in and now the gaffer has decided to follow them. Crisis at West Ham? The mediocrity of a mid-table finish last year will look like a top 4 finish for West Ham this year.
