Czech Republic are set to change things around from when they played their opening game against Switzerland. Milan Baros who was the top goal scorer at Euro 2004 will get a start. He will be partnering the big man himself, Jan Koller, up front. Right full-back Zdenek Pospech is fit to play again after suffering from the flu and Reading playmaker, Marek Matejovsky, could step in to midfield to replace David Jarolim in the middle of the park. Although the Czech Republic won their opening game against Switzerland, head coach Karel Brückner wasn’t impressed with his teams display and they will need to step it up a gear when they take on Portugal.

Luiz Felipe Scolari on the other hand was pleased with Portugal’s performance against Turkey and Portugal are expected to name the same starting 11 to face Czech Republic that beat Turkey in the opening game.

On head to heads it is Czech Republic who are top dogs having won 4 out of the 11 times the teams have met compared to Portugal’s 3. The last meeting between Portugal and Czech Republic was in the quarter finals of Euro 96 which Czech Republic won thanks to a Karel Poborsky strike.
