Fiorentina v Bayern Munich : Preview.

Three weeks ago it was Bayern Munich who came out on top over Fiorentina in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie. It is now up to Fiorentina to overturn the deficit when Bayern Munich visit for the second leg and playing at home Fiorentina will be confident of doing so.

It was Per Koldrup who scored for Fiorentina in the first leg giving them that vital away goal which may yet prove to be the decider should Bayern Munich fail to score in the Stadio Artemio Franchi. In truth though the chances of Bayern Munich not scoring are pretty slim with Fiorentina having not kept a clean sheet in 17 matches. If they are to progress then Fiorentina will have to stiffen up the defence as Bayern Munich pose a serious threat going forward.

An added boost for Bayern Munich is the news that Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery have been declared fit to face Fiorentina. The two wingers are key players for Bayern Munich and will be the ones that Fiorentina will have to make special arrangements for.

On the other hand Fiorentina will be without two of their key players in Adrian Mutu and Massimo Gobbi who are both suspended.

Going into this match there is a contrast in form between the two sides with Fiorentina having won just one match in their last nine whereas Bayern Munich are undefeated in eighteen.

The favourites to go through have to be Bayern Munich. As of late Fiorentina haven’t been in the best of form and despite being at home i can’t see them overturning the deficit needed in order to eliminate a strong and in-form Bayern Munich side.
