Things can change very quickly in football – just a week ago there was a thick black cloud hanging over Liverpool but as they go to Fulham this weekend they are buzzing with confidence. That is what victory over Man Utd can do to you.

Although nowhere near as big a result Fulham secured an impressive point away to Man City last week so they will feel as though they have nothing to fear when Liverpool roll into Craven Cottage this Saturday.

Roy Hodgson’ side would have perhaps expected to find themselves in a better position in the league table at this point in the season, but, three points against Liverpool here could really get the ball rolling for Fulham and could be the kick start to their season that they need.

Talking about kick starts though, if last weeks win over United hasn’t kick started Liverpool then nothing will. The pressure had really mounted onto Rafael Benitez’ shoulders prior to that match and while that huge win will have relieved some of it he isn’t out of the woods yet. Liverpool have to push on and beat Fulham here as anything less will instantly bring back waves of criticism towards the Liverpool boss.

Reports suggest that Fulham might be able to welcome Simon Davies back into the starting line up after injury although his chances are slim. Andy Johnson will also continue to remain absent for Roy Hodgson’ side.

Liverpool will continue to be without the inspirational Steven Gerrard while Glen Johnson has also been ruled out with a calf tear. New summer signing Alberto Aquilani made his long awaited Liverpool debut midweek in the Carling Cup but he won’t be making his Premier League debut this weekend as he now has a virus.

Had this match taken place before Liverpool’s clash with United last week i would have suggested this game as another possible slip up for Liverpool, but, the confidence should be back after last weeks result so i can’t really see Fulham getting anything here.
