Kevin Keegan Quits As Newcastle Manager
By Football Daft at 4 September, 2008, 7:35 pm
The Kevin Keegan and Newcastle saga was finally put to an end today and it is now official that Kevin Keegan HAS left Newcastle United.
It was announced a few days ago nationwide that Kevin Keegan had resigned as Newcastle boss but that turned out to be false information, however, we can now flip that “false” information and make it a fact.
The reasons behind Keegans departure are understood to be due to his differences with the Newcastle board and the overall management of his team including transfers.
“It’s my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want.”
It is understood that the Newcastle board have had more to do with the Premier League clubs transfer activity this summer than what Keegan has, so quite rightly in my opinion he has every right to feel the way he does.
The trend already seems to have been set this year for managerial departures after Alan Curbishley quit West Ham yesterday due to similar circumstances.
I say scrap all these “Directors of Football” and “Vice-Presidents of player recruitment” (what the fuck is that?) and let the bloody managers do their jobs properly! Do you think Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger would put up with any of that nonsense? No, Man Utd or Arsenal wouldn’t dare!
