Liverpool vs Man Utd : Preview.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend sees Liverpool invite Manchester United to Anfield in the biggest fixture English football has to offer. In the last meeting between Liverpool and Man Utd it was an enthralling 4-1 scoreline in favour of Liverpool, lets hope that this one will live up to that standard as well.

With the way that things have been going for Liverpool recently i can’t imagine many people hurrying down to the bookies to bet on them winning by the same margin this time around but nonetheless i’m sure Liverpool fans will still be optimistic of overcoming Manchester United this super Sunday.

For Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United squad this match with Liverpool couldn’t have came at a better time. Liverpool are currently on their worst run of results in 22 years – losing four matches in a row. Some fear that should Liverpool lose to Man Utd here then Rafael Benitez may be forced to go.

Never mind Rafael Benitez going though. One thing that we won’t see at Anfield this Sunday will be the presence of a beachball! Well that’s the idea at least behind banning them from the ground after last weeks embarrassment but somehow i expect to see at least a few after the United fans supposedly stocked up on them from the Liverpool club shop ahead of the game – the Beach Set has now sold out!

Anyway, enough of all that. Wayne Rooney isn’t expected to play any part for Manchester United as the striker is still struggling with injury and has missed the last two games for Man Utd. Darren Fletcher is also a serious doubt for the visitors but Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra have been declared fit to play.

The injury front for Liverpool has been a bit of a problem of late to say the least but it looks as if they are beginning to return to full strength with star man Fernando Torres hopeful of making his return against United. Glen Johnson is also close to recovering and stepping back into the right back position while Mr Liverpool himself Steven Gerrard is nursing a knock and faces a late fitness test.
