This is the first time that Manchester United and Arsenal have met in the Champions League and it is billed to be a classic. Man Utd and Arsenal are long term fierce rivals so despite having never faced each other in Europe before, neither sets of players should need to be told just how important this match actually is.

Arsenal have a lot of selection problems, especially at the back where Gael Clichy and William Gallas will definitely be missing, but, replacements Mikael Silvestre and Kieran Gibbs are also carrying niggles and may struggle.

Robin van Persie will also be absent for Arsenal through injury and the in-form Andrey Arshavin is ineligible having already featured in the Champions League this year for Zenit.

The only real injury worry for Manchester United is that of Gary Neville at right back but Man Utd have a choice between Wes Brown, John O’Shea and Rafael to take his place so they shouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
