Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers : Preview.

After defeats last weekend both Manchester United and Blackburn bounced back during the week with victories in the cup. It is the premier league were results matter most though and it will be tough this weekend for Blackburn going away to a reeling Man Utd side who have just been beaten by their fiercest rivals.

With things looking tight at the top end of the table Man Utd will want to get back to winning as soon as possible to keep the pressure on Chelsea so Blackburn could be in for the full wrath of the Man Utd squad here.

Blackburn have conceded a terrible tally of eleven goals in their last two premier league games so working on the defence will have been Sam Allardyce’ priority this week (that and controlling swine flu of course). If Blackburn defend in the same manner at Old Trafford this weekend that they have recently in the league then Blackburn fans should expect yet more goal hemorrhaging at the back for another week at least.

A possible light at the end of the tunnel for Blackburn will be Man Utd’s relatively poor form at home so far this season. Although the Reds have secured victories at home they have had to scrape them out the bottom of the barrell with narrow wins at home against Birmingham, Bolton and a draw with Sunderland.

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce will be hoping his star man so far this season David Dunn will recover from swine flu in time to face Manchester United but it is still unclear whether Allardyce himself will make it to Old Trafford with rumours of him also being struck down by the virus.

Man Utd have some big problems at the back with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both major doubts. In the event that both miss out then Johnny Evans and Wes Brown are the likely pairing at centre half to face Blackburn. Gary Neville will definitely miss out due to suspension while Michael Owen may start ahead of Berbatov after a couple of impressive performances recently. Gabriel Obertan is also in with a shout for a start after making an impressive debut midweek.
