Manchester United vs Hull City : Preview.

While the rest of the Premier League are on FA Cup duty Manchester United will welcome Hull to Old Trafford for a match which if they win, could see Man Utd go top of the league. The odds are firmly stacked against Hull as you would very much expect with an away tie to Man Utd, however, last weekends draw away at Tottenham may just give the Hull players the belief that they can in fact secure a result – especially if Boaz Myhill puts in another super-human effort.

Amazingly despite sitting in a strong position to challenge for the title Manchester United haven’t really gotten into full flow as of yet this season, which leads one to believe that they can only improve over the coming months in the run in to the end of the season. In recent weeks it has been a bit stop/start for Manchester United. The champions have won just four of their last nine games in all competitions and after the defeat to their city rivals in the cup during the week they may still be hurting a bit, something which Hull may be able to capitalise on.

While Manchester United haven’t been at their best this season it would still be a massive shock to all if they were to lose to Hull this weekend. Hull are currently on a a seven match run without a win but even more alarming for the Hull fans is that their team haven’t managed to so much as score a goal in four of their last six fixtures.

It is no secret that there is a desperate lack of firepower in the Hull squad and with no Jimmy Bullard in the side due to injury, you have to wonder where the goals and creativity is going to come from in this Hull team. For this reason i can see quite a comprehensive Man Utd victory this Saturday.

A big boost for Man Utd will be the return of Rio Ferdinand after a long absence. Shoulod he get the nod to start, the central defenders long awaited return will stiffen up the Manchester United defence which has been there for the taking in recent weeks.

Over the course of the last couple of days Hull have managed to secure the loan signing of Amr Zaki from Egyptian club Zamalek, however, the striker is struggling for match fitness and is unlikely to make the Hull squad that will face Man Utd. Hull will also be without Daniel Cousin & Seyi Olofinjana as both are still on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
