Rangers vs Celtic : Preview

It doesn’t get much bigger than Rangers vs Celtic and the first Old Firm derby of the season is always explosive so hold onto your seats for this one.

Taking a look at recent form it is Celtic who stand out as the in-from of the two with Rangers having drawn their last 3 league games 0-0 while being crushed midweek in Europe 4-1. We all know better though than to take form into account when Rangers and Celtic meet as it really is anybody’s for the taking, form becomes irrelevant in this fixture.

If you have to fancy anyone for the win then as a neutral you would have to say Rangers purely for the fact that they have home advantage which is a big advantage when it comes to a game with Celtic at Ibrox.

In the last two seasons Celtic have lost the opening Old Firm derby of the season to Rangers but with the incentive of possibly going 7 points clear at the top of the SPL they will be going all out for the win.

With midweek European games for both sides there may be a few tired legs come Sunday especially for Celtic who have had two days less time to recover going into the match with Rangers but none of the players will want to miss out on the chance to play and i’m sure they’ll all be up for it irrespective of fitness.

Kevin Thomson and Lee McCuloch have been struggling during the week for Rangers with a knee injury and flu for the latter but both are expected to play a part.

The in-form Paddy McCourt and Andreas Hinkel both missed out during the week for Celtic and are both very doubtful to play against Rangers this Sunday at Ibrox.
