Title contenders Arsenal will head north to Sunderland looking to keep their good form going this weekend. Surprise package of the season Sunderland will prove a stern test for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and with several injuries in recent weeks this will be a test of the Arsenal character as well as their strength in depth.

If an away trip to Sunderland wasn’t tricky enough for Arsenal then the injury that Robin van Persie sustained on international duty will make it all the more harder for them. Despite the fact that Arsenal are the leagues top goal scorers and that SEVENTEEN different players have already scored for them so far this season, even Arsene Wenger will admit that when any side loses their top goal scorer it is a blow.

For Sunderland this is a good news but i don’t think Steve Bruce will allow his players to relax too much ahead of the visit of Arsenal as they do have a vast array of options in attack. While Arsenal will be without their star striker Sunderland will be looking to theirs to do the damage against the Gunners this weekend.

Darren Bent is currently third in the goalscoring charts with eight league goals and with his partner in crime, Kenwyne Jones, suspended he will be the man with the responsibility for putting the ball in the back of the net.

RVP isn’t the only injury problem that Arsenal have, far from it in fact. Bendtner, Clichy, Djourou and Fabianski are ruled out while Denilson, Diaby, Gibbs, Traore, Vela, Walcott and Wilshere are all nursing their way back from injury. With the injuries piling up for Arsenal you would be forgiven for fancying Sunderland chances for this one.

Sunderland aren’t without concerns of their own however. Lee Cattermole and Craig Gordon will definitely miss out against Arsenal while McCartney and Mensah are serious doubts. Kenwyne Jones and Michael Turner will also miss out through suspension.
