Switzerland Vs Czech Republic Highlights - Euro 2008 Highlights

Switzerland were regarded as the underdogs in this match even though they had the home advantage but in the first half Switzerland were the better side and created the better chances. Alexander Frei was the livliest man on the park in the first half and managed to test Petr Cech’s goal on numerous occasions, the best of which was a long range effort which the Czech goalkeeper only managed to parry into the path of Marco Streller. Fortunately for Cech however, Streller was deemed offside. Sadly for Switzerland Alexander Frei had to be substituted just before half time with an injury and after that they never posed the same threat in front of goal. It was Sverkos who settled the game in the end when he “shinned” the ball into the back of the net on 70 minuted and despite a late Switzerland assault, Czech Republic managed to hold on. It could have been all so different however had Switzerland had their 2 very legitimate penalty claims givens thanks to 2 handballs from Tomáš Ujfaluši.
