Tottenham vs Sunderland : Preview.

After a defeat to their fiercest rivals last week Tottenham will want to bounce back in style against Sunderland at White Hart Lane this Saturday. Since last weekends defeat critics have been quick to point out the gulf in class between Tottenham and Arsenal and have rubbished Spurs chances of finishing above their North London rivals in the table so Harry will want his side to answer those critics with a convincing display against Sunderland here.

Sunderland have been perceived as being fairly inconsistent so far this season however they are currently just two points behind Tottenham in the table and a win here will see the Black Cats leap frog Spurs potentially into fifth.

One man that Tottenham will have to look out for from the Sunderland side this Saturday is the in-form Darren Bent. He will be desperate to show his old club exactly what they are missing out on by letting him go and he may just come back to haunt them. While Arsenal were brilliant last week, Tottenham didn’t make it any harder for them with some sloppy defending. They can’t afford to defend in the same manner against Sunderland this week, with Darren Bent waiting to pounce, they will be punished.

Sunderland will be without regular striker Kenwyne Jones after he was sent off against West Ham and they will also be without Lorik Cana due to suspension after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in the same match.

Midget winger Aaron Lennon is unlikely to be fit in time to face Sunderland along with Vedran Corluka who will both face late fitness tests but their chances are slim. Sebastian Bassong has also been ruled out after a hamstring injury but Harry will be delighted to see the return of Jermaine Defoe for the match with Sunderland after his three game ban and also the return of Jonathan Woodgate after a head injury.
