Today Brazil soccer legend Romario announced his retirement from football at the age of 42. In a career which spanned over 20 years he managed to score over 1,000 goals, 56 international goals in 73 appearances for Brazil, won the 1994 World Cup and won the World Player of the Year award for 1994. 1994 was no doubt Romario’s best year and it is the World Cup in USA that is most associated with the Brazillian where he was fantastic and of course later went on to win. To celebrate the career of Romario and to bring back the memories of 1994 the BBC have put together a full review of the World Cup USA 1994 with highlights from every match, all events as they unfolded, the shame of Maradona, the tragedy of Andres Escobar and of course don’t forget that miss from Roberto Baggio.
